Pakistan must give ‘cast iron guarantees’: Chidambaram

New Delhi: Holding that Pakistan will have to give ‘cast iron guarantees’ that its soil will not be used to launch a terror attack like Mumbai carnage, India has said that it will have to pay an ‘enormous price’ if such a strike is repeated. "What we now want is cast iron guarantees" that no state actors   ....Read more

Weak Indian Rulers !!By: K.P.PILLAI | Monday , 5 Jan '09 17:04:55 PM Reply | Forward THE GOVT. OF INDIA SEEMS TO HAVE SETTLED WITH A FACT THAT CONVINCE THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY OF THE ROLE OF PAK IN THE TERROR ATTACK FOR NOW AND SECURE MAXIMUM CONDEMNATION. THAT IS ENOUGH. THE GENERAL ELECTION IS NEARING AND THAT IS THE PRIORITY. KARKARE OR SANDEEP, NO PROBLEM !!! CHIDAMBARAM HAS FIRED THE FIRST SHOT OF SHRINKING THE WHOLE ISSUE. HE IS A FINANCE MANAGER, NOT A FORCE COMMANDER TO THINK OTHERWISE. BAD DAYS AHEAD FOR INDIA, UNDER SUCH LEADERS !!!
CAST IRON GUARANTEESBy: MOULI | Monday , 5 Jan '09 15:58:00 PM Reply | Forward I feel so sad. When India needs a Churchill all that it gets is chamberlins.Appeasement seems to be the order of the day.Even a tin pot country like bangladesh puts its warship to sea to challenge the Indian Navy knowing fully well that the govt will simply buckle under the slightest threat.
Forget war....By: P Dalvi | Monday , 5 Jan '09 14:52:19 PM Reply | Forward Let's subsidise cotton and destroy Pakistan's exports. Why fight, when we can bankrupt them and destroy them without firing a single bullet. Oh - and tell them that we want to rethink the Indus Valley Water Sharing agreement.
WEAK HOME MINISTER YOU ARE .......... !!!By: Thomas Varghese | Monday , 5 Jan '09 14:05:18 PM Reply | Forward Chidambaram appears to be more interested to retain his chair peacefully, than taking up the pain to combat terrorism both internal and external. This is the statement of a weak Home Minister. Sonia madam needs to change the Defence and Home Ministers immediately.
WINDING UP ???By: ANIYAN | Monday , 5 Jan '09 13:33:03 PM Reply | Forward MR. CHIDAMBARAM, ARE YOU WINDING UP THE ISSUE WITH PAKISTAN? THIS STATEMENT SPEAKS SO. YOU, AS A BUREAUCRAT TURNED POLITICIAN, WITH REASONABLE WISDOM, SHOULD KNOW THAT NO ONE IN PAKISTAN COULD GIVE A PROMISE, WHICH YOU DEMAND. BASICALLY BECAUSE, THEY ARE NOT THE RESPONSIBLE RULERS OF THAT COUNTRY. UNTIL UNLESS THE POLITICAL SET UP, MILITARY, ISI ARE TOGETHER PUT IN A BOILER AND RECASTED, NO PROMISE COMING UP FROM THEM WILL HAVE ANY VALIDITY. PLEASE CHECK THE PULSE OF INDIANS BEFORE YOU ISSUE SUCH STATEMENTS.
Cast Iron Guarantees from PakBy: Sanjay | Monday , 5 Jan '09 10:30:48 AM Reply | Forward Another "Political" statement from PC. Everyone knows neither it is going to happen, nor it is possible for Pakistan to do such a thing. He should think of ways and means to vastly improving the security measures in India. Remember after 9/11 there have been no terrorist strikes in the US. He should infact raise the issue of terrorism in every international fora so that all western countries provide concrete support to our security agencies.Time for some consolidation PC and not hollow political rhetoric.
Cruel joke?By: G Sundar | Monday , 5 Jan '09 8:53:31 AM Reply | Forward Pakistan will pay ‘enormous price’ if such a strike is repeated. Is it a joke Mr. PC? How many times we have repeated this empty threat in the past decades? Leave alone the 'next strike' India along with the whole world is watching keenly what the Indian government is doing to counter the present attack. Stop running to US since you are not going to reveal anything new other than what the FBI knew already. US is going to look after its interest only and we have to take care of us. What a bunch of jokers who happens to rule India!
Pakistani GuaranteesBy: B.K.Shahi | Monday , 5 Jan '09 4:24:48 AM Reply | Forward Mr.Chadambram's language is confusing. He appears to be sofening. There is no need for any grarantees. P.M. Manmohansingh's stand is right. Pak must hand over all 40 terrorists to be tried and punished in India. If Pakistan does not hand over these terrorists, it must be declared a terrorist state. If Pakistan cannot handover terrorists operating from its land, Indian forces must attack the terrorist hide outs inside Pakistan. Let us not be scared of nuclear war. India can do far more damage on Pakistan and obliterate that country. We must create conditions for peace within our territory. We should learn from Israelis who are set to finish the terrorists from Gaza for peace on their land.
Chidambaram is naive to believe that Pakistan will guarentee that terrorism will not be repeatedBy: S.Balakrishnan | Monday , 5 Jan '09 1:51:18 AM Reply | Forward Now we want Pakistan to guarentee that it will not attack India with terrorism again. Does that mean that we will excuse them for the Mumbai attack. What a sham? Mr Chidambaram how do we expect you to understand that Mumbai is the second attack the first being at the Kabul embassy by the same folks. How does an ordinary Indian to feel about you and the government you represent when such a blatant attack goes unpunished? Your government seems more interested in ruling out options than in executing any to stop these from happenning. You want a government that is protecting and refusing to handover the terrorists to help you from now on! How much naive can you be. I am sorry for India that we elect such people repeatedly.
What is it reallyBy: Surekha | Sunday , 4 Jan '09 21:50:37 PM Reply | Forward So what do you expect, Mr Chidambaram, really? The whole world already knows all about it, what are you trying to achieve? If the US wanted to do anything (most unlikely, obviously, isn' it?), they wouldn't wait for a scumbag like you to come and help (?) them with all this nonsense stuff. Be your age, Congress. Or are you deliberately doing this to divert our attention from your incapabilities? Then, shame on you.
