I am living in Lebanon. here the government is having a vey good policy on fuel price against international crude price. Governmant had fixed value that they need 5USD for 20Litres of petrol. whatever the market price is increased or decreased this 5 USD will be constant and the remaining price will be directly linked to the internation crude price. let India can also follow the same. And one morething in Lebanon is only private car should be on petrol where the price is slightly higher that diesel and all other commercial taxi and cars/vehicles should be on Diesel because they are giving special subsidy on diesel. The above assumption shows that it will not affect a common man life who is average low/middle income status using public transport/common transport, his travelling expenses will be very less. if he wish to use his own/private vehicle then it is coming under luxury where he has to use petrol vehicle only and his travelling cost will be more

STOP SUPPLYING SUBSIDIZED DIESEL TO CARS By: J.N.Mahanty | Thursday , 2 Jul '09 22:34:08 PM Reply | Forward Diesel is subsidized to reduce the burden on the common man, as it is used for agriculture and transportation.But supply of subsidized diesel to Private Cars/Tourist Vehicles/Taxis, which are used mostly by the affluent section of the Society, does not make sense. After all, Tax Payers' money is being spent to subsidize the travel cost of affluent section. This is a sheer waste and shd be stopped forth with.

On one hand education and medical have become above the reach of common man. The new increase will justify the increase of another 10% prices in essential commodities. Monsoon delay has already increased the greed of traders and God alone knows how many more families will commit suicide this year. It is increasingly becoming difficult to common man to lead a life of diginity. All the governemnt schemes are either for elite or for selected few. Majority are facing life which has neither charm nor decency. If this is what freedom means then were we not more comfortable pre 1940. With selfish political leaders, ethicless business community and greedy professionals, how do you expect a common man to live with his below average intelligence and income. The present and future are looking dangerously gloomy.

The government promises for the poor but in practice everything appears to benefit the rich and the powerful.The fuel price hike will definitely push the prices of several commodities of daily use.The oil companies need to be more efficient and economise operations than going for frequent hikes in the prices. Or the government must have a good policy of linking fuel price to the international crude price and operating expenses.
