Quoting ‘anonymous’, China daily takes a swipe: India may have forgotten lesson of 1962

New Delhi: A day after the Dalai Lama reached Tawang, the Chinese Communist Party’s mouthpiece, People’s Daily, quoting an “anonymous” scholar, said that India “may have forgotten the lesson of 1962” and is “on the wrong track again.” In a provocative article titled “India covets Dalai Lama’s visit,” the   ....Read more

Listen to Tibetan refugee sometimes - Indian bro!By: Peaceman | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 23:37:00 PM Reply | Forward Tibetan refugees in India has been yelling long long time ago that "Chini Hindi Bhai Bhai! Chin ka aek dho ka hay"! (Chinese Indian brotherhood is simply lie and cheat) and "Tibhat ki Aazadi Bharat ki suraksha" (Tibetan freedom is India's security). It seems that now Indians are realizing and feeling the meaning of these slogans! Wait when China diverted all those big rivers orginating from Tibet (Ganga, Sutlej, Brahmaputra, Indus) to south China...India needs to be more proactive towards Tibet's solution.
India may have forgotten the lesson of 1962By: john jacobs | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 13:32:17 PM Reply | Forward By allowing the visit of Dalai Lama to Tawang, India has made a measured, matured and proportionate statement of intent without any overt display of stridency that she intended to hold on to what belonged to her. On the other hand the People's Daily article by the "anonymous", by the standards of an official organ for making known govt policies, was arrogant, unrefined and bellicose. Mr.Mukherjee's statement that he does not visualize any conflict with China pointing to the existence of machinery to prevent any escalation in disputes were if modestly phrased too conciliatory for the liking. China should not misread this apparent softness as weakness on India's side. Who learned what from the lesson is pretty much a circular argument that has been going on ever since 1962.The kid who was taught the faulty lesson has now grown up and full of assurance of giving a good account of himself if another attempt is made at tutoring.
ChinaBy: Bhaskar Kolnad | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 11:23:44 AM Reply | Forward Our government to start with Narasimha Rao was very capable. He should have got another chance with a solid majority.Unfortunately the dynasty backers within the congress party did not allow him to work freely. In spite of all obstacles he did so well in the first term itself. Then came Vajpayeeji. He too had this coalition pulls. And within the party also Advaniji worked against him. There again he did not get another term with a sound majority. Then came this Manmohan Singhji. He should not have taken this responsibility at all.By playing second fiddle he spoiled the Prime Ministers Image. There is so much a prime Minister can do on his own.But he need leadership quality, which Manmohan singhji does not have. We have become so weak forget China smaller countries like Nepal ,Lanka,Bangladesh is playing dirty with us.Even states within the country and regional parties challenge the central authority. Get Kashmir and northeastern states to the mainstream by allowing us to setttle there.
Please - people of India - DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH COMMUNIST CHINA By: River Ganges | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 11:03:35 AM Reply | Forward Millions of people around the world are participating in 100% boycott of Communist China and its products and services. Once you take away the money - all this blustering will stop. If Indians are truly loyal to Mother India then please stop doing business with Communist China and do not buy Communist Chinese products. All the writers who have commented are right - THE WORLD CANNOT TRUST COMMUNIST CHINESE - and one should never forget what they did to Tibet. Of course it would be very stupid for the Communist Chinese to try any military adventure because India is well prepared and even I an old soldier will done my uniform and face your threat and defend Mother India. You stay on your side of the border and we will stay on our side. You eat noodles and we will enjoy basmati rice and makki de rote. God bless India and its citizens.
China does not wish to be reminded of its lesson learnt in 1979 from VietnamBy: Raju Sreenivasan Aiyer | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 10:43:48 AM Reply | Forward The Peoples Republic of China wished to extend its class room to Vietnam in 1979 when the later invaded Cambodia and ousted the pro-PRC barbaric Khmer Rouge government. In order to `teach' Vietnam a lesson it invaded the later but was given a bloody nose by the battle hardened Vietnamese. If Prakash Karat, Jyoti Basu, Sitaram Yechury and other Chinese agents are under the impression that it would be a repeat of 1962 they are living in a fool's paradise. For all one knows it may end up as a reminder of the primary school lesson for the PRC that "A bird in hand is worth two in the bush", it may end up loosing Tibet for good. Beijing would do well to hang on to its riches it already has than to endanger them. Of course it is its privilege to pump-in more arms and ammunition and money into India's North-East and it would be our government's to turn a blind eye!
Not forgottenBy: Mathew | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 9:52:48 AM Reply | Forward We have not forgotten. We remember it so that the next time you are foolish enough to try it, you will be losing Tibet as well. May GOD grant me the privilege of knocking at your presidents residence in Beijing and knock him on his butt.
selfBy: Virumal | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 9:20:20 AM Reply | Forward Please China do not think war will be like 1962 this time. Both have missiles and nuclear bombs.Wether you have 400 bombs or we have 200, it is not going to make difference. We are going to catch you up soon every way.We were not scared in 1962 and not now.Dear China you are not peace loving country, you have created problems for whole world by giving nuclear secretes to pakistan and North Korea.Still you have been supporting pakistan who has created so much terrorisim in world.Mr Dalai Lama is saint he has no military and power to harm you.Your country is the one who grabed Tibet by force. It was indepedent country but amazingly whole world is silent and even united nation did nothing. We Indians are your neighbors and never harmed your country but it does not mean that we are weak.Let us sit and sort out any differences,we can not live with anomosity for ever.
Chinese attitudeBy: K Suresh | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 9:19:19 AM Reply | Forward India needs to be careful with China. We need to be upgraded in our arms stockpile. We should not budge to these intimidations. If china dares to attack India we should reciprocate in such a way that they will forget life existed for them.
Quoting ‘anonymous’, China daily takes a swipe: India may have forgotten lesson of 1962By: V.S.Iyer | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 9:09:07 AM Reply | Forward China should not remind about 1962 war. We have lost the war because of political issue. China should not take it for granted that India would face the same fate of 1962. Just forget this CHINA. You will have to return what you have snatched from us perhaps more than that. So CHINA just be where you are. DO NOT ACT SMART.
Nehru Gandhi rule By: suchithra | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 11:07:01 AM Reply | Forward Lets not forget that in 1962 we had Nehru Gandhi rule & its same now too.Hence china wants to take advantage of.
Then why did they run away?By: ABC | Wednesday , 11 Nov '09 5:27:52 AM Reply | Forward Nehru ruled till 1964, why didn't they come back. Why didn't they come back during Madam Indira's rule or Rajiv's rule. How about PV Narasimha Rao's rule? Did they just wake-up and realize that it's still Nehru/Gandhi rule?
building dam, moving inch by inch due to boneless congressBy: suchithra | Thursday , 12 Nov '09 13:57:30 PM Reply | Forward They are doing indirectly buliding dam across brahmaputra, capturing inch by inch our land. All due to boneless congress
on the contraryBy: M. Raina | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 9:05:09 AM Reply | Forward On the contrary, India has learned the lesson of never trusting the Chinese again. At least not over military matters. If this article is a threat, it is a poor one for a military misadventure will cost the Chinese very dearly this time around.
