Railways considering a centralised examBy: mahesh | Thursday , 23 Oct '08 6:06:00 AM Reply | Forward It is not the case that Staff Selection Commission used to conduct conduct the examination in the present manner. The Commission also used to conduct the examinations for Central Government jobs, like Indian Railway, on zonal basis. However, this was stopped by Hon'ble Supreme Court in the year 1995 when it had struck down the results of the 1995 examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission on zonal basis for the post of Inspector of Central Excise and Customs. I think what Railways is doing is fundamentally wrong and anti-constitutional as it is acting against the principle of equal opportunity in Government jobs to all Indians. All their exams, if challenged on the basis of the said decision of Hon'ble Supreme Court, may be quashed as was done by the Supreme Court earlier in Staff Selection Commission case. Is this not a contempt of Supreme Court's decision by the Railway. I hope some one from Railways and and Raj Thackrey's side should read this?
