Reaching out

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s offer to talk peace with Pakistan is significant for more than the platform from which it was made. Wrapping up the discussion on the president’s address, he said: “If the leaders of Pakistan have the determination and statesmanship to take (the) road to peace, I  ....Read more

India feels only for the NorthBy: Raj | Saturday , 13 Jun '09 8:53:29 AM Reply | Forward Pakistan and kashmir are the only foreign policy focus currently India is concerned with. The south may start to bleed in future with so many issues remain unresolved. The latest to ignite the local feeling was the India's full support for the massacre of Tamils by the Lanka tamils and went one step further in supporting it in the UN. This will remain etched in the memory of Tamils for long time to come.India behaved the way Chineese or the Pakistanis as far as tamils are concerned. India join hands in the massacre of tamils and left tamils with no where to go. The next alternative for the Tamls is to support rajapakshe in his broader plan with Pakis and Cbineese as India as India is only concerned with Kashmir. Kashmir may be the burning issue to North Indians but tamils no longer feel the same. The North did not feel the anguish felt by many Tamils aand so why should the Tamils. The Tamils are ruled by Hindi people and so it is understandable that the feeling is missing.

India and PakistanBy: Avinash Baranwal | Thursday , 11 Jun '09 9:10:15 AM Reply | Forward Just make sure you do what you are saying...otherwise small push from US and we obey as a docile kid.
DoctorBy: Abdul Aziz | Thursday , 11 Jun '09 7:51:31 AM Reply | Forward Dr. Manmohan Singh's offer is excellent. Unfortunately small steps are not going to bring permanent peace between India and Pakistan. Their artificial separation into two countries has left in its wake so many problems that their solution is almost impossible. The most efficient step is to pick up courage and start working towards a confederation between the two countries. For sure, start a process of reconcilaiation but let the ultimate objective be well known.
NO CHANGEBy: ATUL | Thursday , 11 Jun '09 6:23:36 AM Reply | Forward NOTHING MUCH HAS CHANGED WITH RESPECT TO PAKS ATTITUDE.TERRORISM CONTINUES .HENCE DO NOT SEE AS TO WHY WE SHOULD TALK WITH THEM.RELIANCE ON US GUARANTEES ETC IS A WASTE OF TIME AND COULD BACKFIRE.UNLESS THE PAK GOVT CAN REIN IN THE ARMY ,PEACE TALKS WILL REMAIN NOTIONAL AND IRRELEVANTWE SHOULD LET THEM ROT IN THEIR OWN STEW.WHEN THEY ARE O THEIR KNEES THEN WE SHOULD LAUNCH CRIPPLING SANCTIONS AND CUT OF ALL RELATIONS WITH THEM.
What a load of rubbish!By: arjun lal | Thursday , 11 Jun '09 5:24:37 AM Reply | Forward "But it also reflects the realism that not having channels of official communication is simply not an option."What a load of rubbish - we expect better from the editorial staff of Indian Express. Talk about what and with what objectives? Have we not had enough talks and what are the results of those talks? More attacks on India and more arms for Pakistan? Come on - get real!
