Casteist Report CardBy: Sunil Maingi | Sunday , 12 Oct '08 9:19:15 AM Reply | Forward A student's caste marked prominently on the report card, is a slur on any civilized society. But the ground realities are very different. In today's times, it is profitable to be identified as backward and downtrodden to the lowest level. This is thanks to our country's caste based reservation policy. To avail of this policy a person demands that his caste should be prominently mentioned. If we truly want a society where everyone is equal, reservations and other sops based on caste, should go. For the upliftment o downtrodden, the criteria for upliftment should be economic and not caste. So identification of caste on report cards or any other document should not scandalize us.
