New Delhi: Taking aggressive steps to turn around cash-strapped Air India in two years, Government said a major revamp of its top management would be carried out in 30 days and there would be a partial disinvestment of the national carrier in the near future. You will see in the next 30 days a major chang  ....Read more

Will SirIndia Survie or Sold to private ShortlyBy: Jayasankar | Thursday , 9 Jul '09 14:21:29 PM Reply | Forward it is sad Politicians are responsible for this mess in AirIndia. First Indian Airlines and Air India should not have been Merged. That made a huge loss. Indian Airlines loss was less compared to AIR INDIA.babu's and Congress politicians must shed their mental block and go in for Pulic Issue of Air India to get Money. Then appoint Good and stright forward persons as CMD and Directors . No Interference from Aviation Minstry. WILL ALL THESE HAPPEN?,GOD save the Poor Employee's.
AIR INDIA RevampBy: Muralee | Wednesday , 8 Jul '09 19:13:49 PM Reply | Forward Let us hope that the Hon.Praful Patel puts his words into action. It is high time the National Carrier gets the benefit of a Professional Management Team instead of Political appointees and nominees run the show for their masters and own interests! The totally inefficient and corrupt workers union should be disciplined along with the reorganization of the management team so that the airline would be run like a People's Carrier instead of Politicians Carrier.
Revamp the PoliticiansBy: Shobha Deodhar | Wednesday , 8 Jul '09 14:16:37 PM Reply | Forward Revamp all of the Delhi politicians and bureaucrats; then kill Congress, the root of all evil, you have the answer. As an additional precaution, there should be a JEE or such qualifying exam for any one going in for a position in Delhi. It has been made such a bogus place by all of our leaders. I do not know if it is yet curable.
Revamp of Air IndiaBy: Padam Singh | Wednesday , 8 Jul '09 12:19:08 PM Reply | Forward Some nws papers did mention the possibility of Rattan Tata taking a major part in the revamp of Air India. He had been involved earlier in the 80's but only as a non Excecutive Chairman with no say. In a sense it was only a show pieceGive Rattan Tata the powers of total overhaul, take away bureacratic interference and see the national airline become the pride of India. But will the powers that be allow it?

Doomed Air IndiaBy: Rahul Bose | Wednesday , 8 Jul '09 10:41:21 AM Reply | Forward Air India's present doom is mainly due to the civil aviation ministry's wrong policies and mismanagement by its own top brass. Recently, they concluded a stupid agreement with the cabin crew increasing their salary to 2.5 lac pm from the present 1 lac and that too arrears from 1997 onwards, as if they are going to bring in the money from their father's legacy. Everywhere, brainless actions are taken by the top management in connivance with the union leaders thereby wasting the tax payers' money. It seems the ministry is bent upon making it worse and forcing AI to sell its assets to pvt airlines so that concerned people can get enough kickback - like they did it in the case of two Centaur hotels.
Kick Bhargava outBy: Ajay Nair | Wednesday , 8 Jul '09 10:11:06 AM Reply | Forward If Minister said can be believed, he should first kick Mr J Bhargava from Director board. He has been minting money for past few decades by giving contract to certain companies against benefit that can not be disclosed in public. Several times, he has defended his colleagues when ever media raised concern. He is a typical licking employee.
AIR INDIABy: Rajesh Vyas | Wednesday , 8 Jul '09 9:56:14 AM Reply | Forward Why do we start digging for water only when the house is on FIRE? The reason is our Ministers are POLITICKING all the time rather than paying attention to their jobs. Mr. Praful Patel Saying that he is not Minister for AIR INDIA does not hold water at all. Air India is a public sector airline and belongs to the people of India. How can the Civil Aviation Minister of State of the Indian Government (WITH INDEPENDENT CHARGE OF THE MINISTRY)diswon responsibility for the AIR INDIA debacle? The public wants some cogent and real answers from the minister and not some inane and vague explanations by getting angry on the Television. If the Minister is unwilling to respond then the Prime Minister has to answer these questions. There is a dire need to impart professionalism to our governance.
Mr.By: Pran Parashar | Wednesday , 8 Jul '09 8:41:33 AM Reply | Forward Dear Sir, We don't need to disband the Air India. But only get rid of free loaders. You can't stop the rot unless It is made clear to all THE NETAS AND BUEAUCRATS that they have to pay every time they travel and even their families do not travel free. They have to abide by the laws of the Airline. The Captain is in command of the aircraft and his word has to be the law. The problem can be solved quite easily by the control of the passengers. The image of the Airline has to change. There should be no control of DGCA in the Management. There are good PILOTS. Cabin Crew Should be made to realize that they are under the command of the captain. Captain's Orders must be obeyed. All Aircrew should undergo a Medical Exam to prove with in the norms laid down by the DGCA. Strikes should not be tolerated. New contract should be issued to all employees. There should be age limit for the cabin crew. Don't be afraid of court cases.
