We prosecute someone for withdrawing life-support to a terminally ill patient, these people withdrew life support to people who still had a chance to live. Has anyone considered what suffering corruption causes in India? Spurious drugs in hospitals, collapsing bridges, people dying of thirst because their well ended up in someone's pocket, these are just some of the costs of the non-lethal corruption that we are all comfortable with. My brother, working in a refinery in India was offered a bribe to pass a batch of sub-standard gas cylinders. He remembered the faces of his mother and sisters and imagined the cylinders blowing up in their kitchens. Do you suppose he could have accepted the bribe after that? We, as a nation, as individuals, have forgotten the faces of our sisters. If we ever thought that they have to pay for our karma, we would have been much better. Our young men use prostitutes blithely - have they ever thought of their suffering? Not my sister?
