misuse of power..By: kiran | Friday , 3 Jul '09 15:45:13 PM Reply | Forward I think HRD ministers want to prove to the Nation that they are the guys who call for shots and can DIRECT the brains running IITs and IIMS.And so, are a more superior intellectually!In my opinon, we might have already diluted IITs standard by opening many additional branches (Patna etc) and they may not be having the right faculty.A few years down the line there can be many many more IITs. May be like NIIT branches:-)IITs should be left alone with technology..Law

The IITs are already wasting colossal sums of public money producing wannabe marketing gurus, merchant bankers, bureaucrats and other parasitic professionals that feed off the fat of the land, instead of producing engineers and technologists that create the real wealth of the nation. The IITs are already least concerned with technology, it is time to tell them to get back to the basics.

Bringing in new fields like Bio Technology, Nano Technology etc are welcome, but mandating it to take Law, Medicine, Social science et al clearly shows a motive to dilute the IITs focus and Govt's failure in envisioning and brining in higher institutions for these other fields. Why dont Sibal go and create IILaw, IIMed, IISocialScience and expand IISc. It has become fashionable for minister to talk high-handed nonsensical sermons at IITs and IIMs to show off.
