So long, Mr Courage, Dignity, Integrity

Anil Kumble and his trusted, worn out India cap, on another head it might have been just another cap, finally walked out for the last time at his favourite Kotla. They could no longer disregard the plaintive cries from his body. In recent times it had complained of wear and tear but was happily  ....Read more

SPINNERSBy: ZYX | Tuesday , 4 Nov '08 11:21:51 AM Reply | Forward KUMBLE REPLACED 2 LEG SPINNERS-SIVARAMKRISHNAN AND HIRWANI. ---NOW 2 LEG SPINNERS WILL REPLACE KUMBLE-AMIT MISHRA AND PIJUSH CHAWLA.---THIS MEANS KUMBLE IS EQUAL TO FOUR LEG SPINNERS.
FarewellBy: Vinod | Monday , 3 Nov '08 22:15:06 PM Reply | Forward The earliest memories of kumble come from the england series in india when we beat them 3-0. That was part of my childhood growing up and today with kumble's retirement it has dawned on me that I am not a child anymore and I will never get that feeling of kumble jumping for joy on a wicket. I just hope indian cricket understands his contributions and ensure this role model is rewarded for his service. I do not stay in india anymore, but I am proud to be an india with fellow citizens like Anil Kumble. Bowling Jumbo! as Nayan Mongia used to scream.

Farewell KumbleBy: Supratik | Monday , 3 Nov '08 15:47:57 PM Reply | Forward Fine article Harsha. When they talked of 'Mr. Cricket', I always thought that Kumble epitomised the sobriquet the most. What a transformation from a bespectacled gawky young man of the 1990 England series to a giant who ruled indian bowling firmament for 2 decades and finally bowing out with a running 'caught and bowled' 619th victim. He has given hope to cricketers with limited ability. He has shown them that if there is a will there is a way. And he has shown that there is a different aspect to spin bowling as you rightly put it.But putting the emotion aside, one can look at Kumble's career in 2 parts, pre-surgery in the 90s and post it and here we can see why didn't get the oohs
Anil Kumble RetirementBy: Nanda | Monday , 3 Nov '08 14:42:11 PM Reply | Forward He is a great fighter and one of the best in the world now, India will loose his vast experience and quality a replacement for Anil Kumble will be a very difficult one .We wish him all the good luck and happy retired life with his family. We will all miss you Kumble that is for sure. Good Luck Once again.
thrilling timesBy: rks | Monday , 3 Nov '08 13:04:24 PM Reply | Forward When he was at his best, he was the most thrilling bowler to watch next to warne. With 6 men around batsmen and ball zipping around, there would always be an anticipation that a wicket would fall at any moment.
Kumble the FIGHTERBy: Radhesh | Monday , 3 Nov '08 12:48:04 PM Reply | Forward Harsha, I too am "am open and unabashed fan of Kumble" and even though I am deeply pained that he had to retire, that he had to finally give up to his body, i think this is the best way of going out. On his own terms, with 11 stiches in the left hand but still bowling his heart out, calling to take a high catch with that injured hand. Just showing once more what a FIGHTER he is. Proud to be an Indian and a Anil Kumble Fan
one man bowling machineBy: Kiran Bhanushali | Monday , 3 Nov '08 12:36:03 PM Reply | Forward With kumble retiring an age of Indian cricket has passed, his name will be so missed from the indian scoresheet, it was just such a permanent fixture, A Kumble at number 8 or 9, as S Tendulkar is at number 4. boy o boy, I dont even want to think of when sachin retires, sssss. its gonna be mighty hard to have anyone even remotely as hard working and dedicated as Kumble, hats off to the man
