RED CORNER NOTICE FOR AIRTEL-MTN MERGERBy: SAMBIT PRIYADARSHI | Sunday , 12 Jul '09 3:31:35 AM Reply | Forward Sir, Left's objection to the Airtel-MTN merger, coming from Abani Roy is puzzling and inexplicable. Known for its strident criticism against US, Left has cited sanctions imposed by its bete noire for justifying the opposition to India's biggest telecom deal. Left, infamous for its volte-face this time has left the political doctors baffled. The recent electoral debacle seems has proved as the last straw on Left's back. Atoning for its anathema for US finally it is cosying up to Obama and Co. Even then demanding ban on MTN arguing the deal with Airtel would compromise India’s “national security" is prudish and far-fetched. Abani and his aapparatchiks must give up paranoid for the MNCs and adopt pragmatism before trying to become Uncle Sam's blue-eyed boy.
