The Party of Little Men

New Delhi: The form in which the BJP is coming to terms with its defeat explains why it deserved to lose. Many of the explanations have rightly focused on a number of factors. BJP has not been able to ideologically reinvent itself, its campaign was tactically clueless, it organisation moribund, its messag  ....Read more

Jettison RSS, tell us why ?By: Manindra chauhan | Thursday , 25 Jun '09 14:34:44 PM Reply | Forward People like Mr.Mehta tend 2 go overboard while commenting upon RSS.Thats obvious of him because of his veiled intellect, which always sees RSS through a prism of prejudice. As an emminent political commentator could you give us Mr.Mehta please, a single instance of an organization dedicated selflessly towards one and only goal of nation building. An age where political parties are corrupting individuals for lust of raw power it is creating selfless individuals by sheer weight of nationalism. If due to frugality of power these individuals get contaminated after tasting success in politics,is it a failure exercise ? It's a hit and trial method, where sometimes you get a modi, shivraj, yedyurappa or raman and sometimes a bangaroo or judeo. Its easy to say "nation first" but 2 achieve so,one has 2 relinquish everything personal, even their kins, and RSS is setting supreme standards. Not attracting too many new faces,is it their fault or fault of ds consumerist society not ready to think above self.
Muslims of indiaBy: raghu | Tuesday , 16 Jun '09 15:21:51 PM Reply | Forward The complete submission to religious bigots and over dependence on their teachings has isolated the muslim community. Mainstream in any country belongs to individuals who think beyond religion in a rational manner which means that the religious teachings and their fanatic followers with no respect for national fabric in their thinking will be viewed with suspicion automatically. No one is to blame for the plight of muslims in this country. The muslim is to blame as his plight is same as sudan or pakistan or bangladesh despite living in a great country called india.
Party of LittlemenBy: Shreepad | Monday , 15 Jun '09 20:19:50 PM Reply | Forward Dear Mr Mehta,Just come out side the box and observe closely. You will figure out that all the five fingers will point to the Hand symbol as for "the Party of little men". It doesn't take a lot to understand if all the so-called educated (but corrupt and slavish group of people? got renewed opportunity to be in government (representing much less than 50% of population - 206 seats only?? out of 547??)because of illeteracy (and lack of awareness) plaguing the Country! Instead of accepting such reality, trying to pass loose judgements on a Party with so many great intellectuals!? You better work on your understanding on fragile nature of democracy in India and manifestation of illeteracy and lack of awareness on the part of common man in India.
The Party of Little MenBy: Ratan Gupta | Monday , 15 Jun '09 17:46:21 PM Reply | Forward I am sick of some sick people promoting the word of appeasement. Let us analyze. Muslims are today poorer than the lower caste hindus in India. Is this appeasement. The same people who migrated to America, Canada, England, Ausralia or any Middle Eastern Country are doing amazing. In Britian alone, 10 thousand Muslims are millionaires. Don't forget, Muslims are not blacks or Red Indians. They ruled us for 1000 years. How come is that possible that a Muslim is failing in India while once out of the country is extremely successful. Something is wrong in our system. One my Muslim buddy was interviewed in Shipping Corporation of India in eighties, and during the interview, he was repeatedly asked about Pakistan. Finally, he got and walked out of the room. What Shipping industry has anything to do with Pakistan? There is no appeasement. Absolutely not.
It is time to purge the party of bad elements.By: Ram Nath Babu | Monday , 15 Jun '09 12:18:32 PM Reply | Forward There is nothing wrong with the BJP, nor there is any need to change their policies and programmes. I could not understand what wrong BJP has done and on what basis they are called communal. Is advocating for a uniform civil code in India communal? Or is it their policy of appeasement to none and equavlity to all communal? The fact is that Hindus have been at the receiving end under congress rule. BJP tried to unite Hindus in the wake of muslim appeasement by congress and widescale conversion being done by christian missioneries across the country. Although, in minority, these two communities have abused Hindus and Hindu Gods and are still doing it. The country is filled-in Bangladeshi infiltrants. MMS has been working as a proxy PM for the past five years. BJP pointed out this. Is it wrong. It is said that PM has the prerogative in selecting his cabinet. Can MMS select his choice of cabinet without approval from Sonia Gandhi?
Whoa! Gandhiji is an arch enemy of BJPBy: Champak | Monday , 15 Jun '09 11:35:27 AM Reply | Forward Wow what an allegation by Mr Mehta. I had no idea. May be Mr Mehta can enlighten us with statements made by BJP or its leaders against Gandhiji. Yes we know that Gandhiji was killed by ppl belonging to RSS but there was no implication that RSS was involved in it and no one every suggested that BJP or their leaders consider Gandhiji in anything but utmost respect he deserves. Surprised that IE's editorial board is so lax and let's ppl write whatever they want
Bhartiya Janata PartyBy: AKS | Monday , 15 Jun '09 10:05:39 AM Reply | Forward Defeat always brings a sense of despair and no doubt why we are being fed with a number of articles citing reasons for it. In this article, at one place, Bhanu has conceded a fact that all parties but BJP have abandoned nationlism for opportunism. Opportunism at the cost of nation itself. This school of thought manifests a very basic character of a nation which is not ready to learn lessons from its disgraceful history (remember partition
What the Hindus wantBy: vrfy | Monday , 15 Jun '09 2:42:57 AM Reply | Forward Hindus as nature are very csmopoliton. See the way they live with ,food , language, attire , difference of opinion in their religion, philosophy and simply the gods they worship. They dislike to be dominted by other riligions or regions but at the same time they have a very strong sence of decency. The political leadership of BJP failed to gauge this when they attacked Manmohan Singh as being soft. They felt as if they were themselves being attacked. On the contrary leaders like Rajnath Singh , Murali Manohar Joshi and the likes are seen as the representative of their own cast and state rather than the leader of Hindu masses. Hindus need honest, decent and assertive leadership not a gang of goons. For Hindus congress is not the first choice, but it presented hope and forward looking attitude which pulled voters away from BJP. This is foolish to think that the speech of Varun and stright talks of Modi harmed BJP. By hurting them BJP would not have got even half of what it got.
chawlaBy: sanjeev | Sunday , 14 Jun '09 20:15:37 PM Reply | Forward BJP is still better than congress and will bounce back.
We already have MMS By: Amar | Sunday , 14 Jun '09 19:37:38 PM Reply | Forward I don't want to see a Muslim PM. We Hindus afraid of Muslims as they did to Padits in Kashmir, Hindus in Bangladesh
