Third Front experiment a failure, admits CPM

New Delhi: The CPI(M) on Tuesday virtually admitted that the Third Front experiment was a failure, saying that the alliances forged on the eve of the elections were not seen by the people as a "credible and viable alternative". The party, however, also did not shy away from taking some credit for the UPA   ....Read more

THIRD FRONTBy: INDIAN | Wednesday , 20 May '09 16:12:12 PM Reply | Forward THIRD FRONT BECAME COMMUNIST FRONT.
Pseudo communistsBy: KVSKumar | Wednesday , 20 May '09 10:45:35 AM Reply | Forward Mr. Thomas, Would you say Capitalism spoiled America, that it finds itself rretrievably lost in recession and meltdown due to the greed of few in authority and business at the same time? Don't forget, it was Marx who declared that "nothing but change is permanent". It applies to communism too. Tragically our communists are pseudos, without real interest to spread the spirit of communism beyond the boarders of Kerala, Tripura and West Bengal. Also, spare some time to to and find the living conditions of people in the villages of those states which claim to be progressive and industrialised (save cities). You will understand what is the difference between real development and industrialisation there. By the by Keralites are migrating to Cities of other states not to villages. Ofcourse today there are migrants from other states in Kerala too. Would you dare to settle in any village of other state?
The Thirid FrontBy: Mathai Mathew | Wednesday , 20 May '09 8:38:33 AM Reply | Forward The so called third front comprises of parties which nurse opposing views. Ms Jayalalitha and Mr Naidu are known capitalists and the left were harshly opposing them while these persons were in office. Naidu was accused as doyen of the rich, and another charge was that his 'IT' initiatives only did create cities ignoring the rural poor. Mayavati was blamed for the cast politics. The general public could not be taken for a ride with these type of opportunistic alliances. The left's stand on the Nuclear issue was entirely based on consolidating muslim votes rather than taking into account of the real situation that the country is needs energy to maintain the growth story. The left tried in vain to incite the sentiments of the muslim community. The muslims in contrary, realised that radical moves will only adversely effect the well being of that community.
There is no place for a third front in Indian politicsBy: Scaria Varghese | Wednesday , 20 May '09 7:57:11 AM Reply | Forward Communism is modern anachronism that is unsuited to the modern market driven economy. This truism was well understood by the late paramount leader Deng Xiaoping of China and he began to modernise Chinese dilapidated economy. In the late 1970s China began to progress after ditching the moribund and outdated communist policies. No communist country-Marxist or Leninist – ever succeeded in improving the standard of living of its citizenry. That was the reason for the demise of the totalitarian regimes the word over. Indian commies are living in the past that was nothing to be proud of and plenty to be ashamed about. Coalition governments led by Congress or BIP are preferable in Indian politics. To be a viable alternative to Congress, BJP has to reinvent-eschew its Hinduism fetish and embrace Secularism. There is no place for a third front in Indian politics, especially the one led by CPM. Commissars are beholden to China and often acting to serve her interest-disloyal to India.
THird front no PM cndidateBy: R. Bhakther Solomon | Wednesday , 20 May '09 7:57:08 AM Reply | Forward Third front experience is not a failure but the strategy only failed to work because a wrong road map was laid in front of the electorate. It should have named one person at the National Level as the PM candidate instead of putting forth all possible names from various parties. It stared with Mayavathi, then Jayalalitha, Pawar suddenly came up, and even Karat name was eventually emerged. Apart from these names the third front was considering other names from the fourth front like Laloo, Paswan, Mulayam , Naidu, Nitish Kumar and even Amar Singh. A dozen names from parties who were hoping to get a total of 225 seats. But then my estimate was 125. The front would have said whicever party gets more than 40 seats that party will get PM.The next Govt at the centre will be either BJP led one or by third front led one. So try to name only one candidate from the beginning and work hard together so as to achieve the mission possible. I hope the leaders will heed to my advice.
prakash karat--third front a failure--By: ashoka chhatri | Wednesday , 20 May '09 7:53:51 AM Reply | Forward the left bloc in india is wedded to politics of anti-usa-- oppose anything the usa does-- except the blue jeans and fast food. i am presently in toronto,on.,canada. i am shocked to see how the unions in a capitalistic country like canada and u.s.a. bargain and get best deals for workers. min.wages are 9$ per hour, a nanny(care giver from phillipoines) can bring down an m.p.( ruby dhalla) from brampton, g.t.a. gen.motors union has bargained the pants off the bailout package of obama. and still counting. karat, buddhadeb, bardhan should learn some lessons of comradeship from here.instead they are screwing up uor country, like misguided missiles. the nautanki karat
Third FrontBy: Chanchal Dutta | Wednesday , 20 May '09 7:37:33 AM Reply | Forward New Experiment to unite seculare forces together is absolutely necessary. Without good opposition Parliamentary Democracy won't stand on its feet. Third front must work for the common benifit of the people. Fight to reduce the cost of prices of food articles, more employments to youths and fair price to farmers, health care should be extended to villagers and prices of medicine should come down to the reaches of the poor.Reduce excess expenditur on military
Time to Pack UpBy: Purnendu Pattnaik | Wednesday , 20 May '09 7:33:37 AM Reply | Forward Dear Mr. Karat,Just 24 seats in a house of 543 seats sends one strong message:Time to look for alternate source of employment as there is no place for communist in the world's largest democracy.Your people will not make it to parliament, and they need some sort of income to sustain their families. Its just a matter of time when CPM's Presence will be left in WikiPedia/Encyclopedia, where the next generation will read about an extinct party and the reasons of their extinction.Offcourse, now that you have lost the elections, your party will have more time to support extremists like Maoists and People's War Group, and create indirect problem for a progressive governance.I would still request you, now that the days are numbered, do something good, so that when the next generation does a google search, they get better results.Cheers
Left front alone can be third frontBy: N J Ramesh | Wednesday , 20 May '09 6:33:17 AM Reply | Forward The success in West Bengal has been not because it was a Communist government but a left front government. The Left of the kind which is certainly not Red but either Pink or Purple. The kind of sensibility which gets tagged with Premchand, Bhagat Singh, Satyajit Ray, Balraj Sahni, Harivansh Rai Bachhan, UR Ananthmurthy and many many more.Left stream of thought has a deep and pervasive all India presence. The left voices have reached nook and corner of India. Our one billion plus democracy which is bigger than whole of North America and South America combine, needs three credible and differentiated polity which can also do business together. The stumbling block is holding RSS and BJP as communal. If Left front gets over this syndrome and accepts the predicament of BJP with empathy there is sufficient social space for it to occupy. This recognition alone would be imparting to them nationalistic credentials to hold the Centre which they surely need and richly deserve to do so.
Let us Go For a Different Form of Democracy.By: pamameen | Wednesday , 20 May '09 5:05:51 AM Reply | Forward Instead of 3rd and 4th fronts, why not go for a change in the form of democracy. In the future this kind of political party democracy is going to cause a lot of problems in forming a stable government. So I think our political scientists should give some thoughts to changing the system of election. Still it is a democracy. My idea is based on a democracy without any political party at all. We have to abolish all the poliBtical parties to follow this idea. My idea (a borrowed one) is let every 5000 people of India elect a (let us call him basic democrat) representative. This means, 700 million voters will elect 1,40, 000 basic democrats. These basic democrats will contest the elections not based on political party basis, but based on individual moral character basis. And these 1,40, 000 basic democrats, will form the electoral college and elect a powerful Prime Minister of India.
