language barrierBy: shekar | Sunday , 15 Nov '09 13:27:22 PM Reply | Forward Sir, UK has only English as mother tongue and no problems in taking an English test for Visa. Actually UK will have problems adjusting their ears to listen to different pronunciations. on the contraty, If India enacts a law that those who apply for visa from a foreign country should learn a language, all hell will break loose. How many languages should an individual pass to enter India? My god! language centres will surely flourish.
It is a political stunt keeping elections in mindBy: Shiva Gopalakrishnan | Sunday , 15 Nov '09 13:09:21 PM Reply | Forward The NHS is in shambles. Doctors from non-eu states have contributed positively. As for english, I think it is a good move and should not be compared with Raj. Calling for Hindi knowledge for Indian visa's is a shame.
LOLBy: Prasad | Sunday , 15 Nov '09 10:39:32 AM Reply | Forward There is nothing called "English Test". There could be an "English language test". If an English language test is indeed conducted on the Brits, 90% of them (including the Royals) would fail and hence be ineligible to be citizens of their own island nation! Not sure which country will then take them!
Oh, you people are so superior!By: concernedenglishman | Sunday , 15 Nov '09 19:02:58 PM Reply | Forward A country with mass illiteracy should think twice before questioning the educational standards of any other nation. Why is it I wonder that the average Indian has an IQ of 72 and that your education system ranks 140th in UN rankings while ours ranks 30th Where do you Indians get this superiority aura from? You make up 17% of the world population yet only control 1% of world trade,25% of your citizens live in abject poverty, youthreatened by hostile regimes on all sides and corrupt as a corpse. Please think about this before you make such an abundance of vitrolci anti british posts.
EU is holier than India By: Dr.G.Srinivasan | Sunday , 15 Nov '09 7:39:50 AM Reply | Forward This should be made mandatory also for EU citizens, whose english is horrible yet UK allows them!!!!Even consultants of these countries cannot write a decent reference in english
A RIGHT STEPBy: deepu | Sunday , 15 Nov '09 6:56:08 AM Reply | Forward It is very fine to imply such a rule in the britain. The language which have much depth in history that will go back even near the evolution of man is english, among rare languages. It is very apt to impose such a rule, as third rate men and women who have no education or language skills will remaain what they deserve to stay.""if you will not sit in your throne dogs will sit on it''.a common principle, which can be applied to these substandards. It is a very fine and apt law for the great britain for population explosion which is worse than hell here.
Jar-Ray Ja!By: M.V.Muthu | Sunday , 15 Nov '09 6:43:15 AM Reply | Forward Going by his current gimmics, one hopes that Raj Thakeray doesn't seek 'Marathi Test' for everyone before entering Mumbai and Maharashtra!
English testBy: Hero Vaz | Sunday , 15 Nov '09 5:32:08 AM Reply | Forward There are many Englishmen who will not be able to pass an English test. Will they be allowed to retain their citizenship?!!!!!
English test for UK VisaBy: Sunil | Sunday , 15 Nov '09 4:20:38 AM Reply | Forward Well done UK. It is about time that the Indians of questionable qualifications and uncivil characters are denied permissions to enter any country let alone UK. These Indian morons have brought with them al sorts of corruption and nepotism and other uncivil behaviours with them to the western societies and made the atmosphere there polluted in a way. Those who are found to have used any fraudulent means and have entered the countries in the last 10 years, should be packed up and sent back to their homes...irrespective of the visas they may be holding.. work or tourist or temporary work whatever... And Raj Thakeray may have taken a wise page from the Britishers.. and about time too. All these non-Marathi goondas and goons should be thrown out of not only Mumbai but from Maharashtra itself permanently. It'll be good for the state and for the country.

If you like your own country so much why are you begging to come to the UK. Stay in india if you dont want to follow the rules of a PROPER democracy.
why complainBy: Piyush | Sunday , 15 Nov '09 3:28:49 AM Reply | Forward If I have to prove understanding of regional languages in my own country to move around, why should I complain if they say I need to know the language they speak if I work for their country...
