Wages of arrogance

Once again, the spectre of Bofors has risen at election time, and the Congress has none but itself to blame. The political costs are manifold, and troubling. The BJP has been handed a stick with which to beat the Congress; it can now openly say what it was muttering earlier: that only they will  ....Read more

Terrible essayBy: Bharat Varma | Wednesday , 29 Apr '09 22:08:32 PM Reply | Forward "if some in the Congress believe that, they think that subverting institutions to achieve “laudable” ends is acceptable, in the party’s interest" - is the author suggesting that behind these maneuvers of the Congress Party there is some "laudable" goal! What a shame, media can stoop so low! Terrible!!

Wages of arroganceBy: Thikal | Wednesday , 29 Apr '09 16:09:25 PM Reply | Forward This article seems to have been written as a party political broadcast on behalf of the BJP to canvass votes for the BJP. IE forgets that the electorate is fully aware that there are more arrogant people and more corrupt people in BJP than in Congress. If there is such incontrovertible evidence against Quatrocchi, why didn't the NDA Govt take action to bring Q to India and face trial? Everyone is aware that BJP's prime focus always is to malign the Gandhi family and BJP will never miss any opportunity to do so.
Same goes for modiBy: amit | Wednesday , 29 Apr '09 21:39:07 PM Reply | Forward SO, now you are accepting that MODI is inocent since congress is in power for the last 5 years and they only bark modi is involved in gujrat riots but with no proof. That means modi is innocent. But Q is not because all the evidences aginst him were washed by the congress when it came to power bfor NDA.NDA did took action it fought in Malasia court FYI.It was congress who let Q go in argentina and then defrezed his accounts. Thanks to the Italian queen
nothing wrongBy: Kumar | Wednesday , 29 Apr '09 21:01:50 PM Reply | Forward I don't think there is anything wrong in maligning the Gandhi family. If they can go to the extent of maligning the essential belief systems of the majority of Indians, what is one family? Even if it is spelt G-a-n-d-h-i.
Thikal you must be congressi !!!!By: Saket Bansal | Wednesday , 29 Apr '09 20:21:53 PM Reply | Forward Thikal you must be congressi..the one who benefits because of the association with congress..the one who takes kick back and live on boot legging and ofcourse never a nationalist.Read the article again (if you pea sized brain can understand)..its not abt BJP its about how institutins are subverted in congress term..not only president but CEC,Supreme court,CBI to all the governors..time again and again congress continue to play with constitution so that one family continue to rule India...and we stupid indians bcoz of people like you keep voting them..what a shame !!!!!!!!!
Mr gupta the eiditor is pro congressBy: Anil | Wednesday , 29 Apr '09 19:06:13 PM Reply | Forward How can you accuse them of being pro BJP. IF anythign the evidence became so storng Guptajee had to concede and wreite.. fact is you have Pratibha VS Qalam you have Gopalswamy vs NAvin Chawla and less said about misuse of CBI under congress betetr it would be
Scam of Pea-NutsBy: sandeep deshmukh | Wednesday , 29 Apr '09 15:22:03 PM Reply | Forward i often wonder why the Bofors Scandal could redefine the political landscape of this country when, actually you realize that the so-called Kick back amount is meagre 64Crores...then it hitz u it's a joke ...64Crores it's peanuts for the current bunch of crooks inhibiting the parliament! So Mr. Editior forget about past, nothing is going to come out of Bofors, Quottrochi is probably will never set his foot in india, and we might end up spending more than the kick-back amount that is being investigated.
AmountBy: Sidharth | Wednesday , 29 Apr '09 21:07:41 PM Reply | Forward Dear Mr. Deshmukh,So what should be the minimum amount of kickbacks to raise the issue...Rgds
Alice in WonderlandBy: Anil Kohli | Wednesday , 29 Apr '09 15:15:11 PM Reply | Forward It would be a fair comment that in 1947 Congress replaced the British as the rulers of India.Congress is hallucinating that its first family is ordained, and cannot be displaced. It is during this party’s Governments that terms most unacceptable, to a democracy have been included in the journalistic lexicon. Ruling party , Rule, Ruler, Leader, Power , Political Masters. These terms in themselves betray, and implant an impression of an Empire or Royalty at the helm of affairs in a democratic country.Again it also evidently states, that there is a class which will rule and the masses who vote are at the mercy of the former. Public Servants have stood the term on its head, reversing it Public is our Servant. This has come about mainly on account of unbridled authority bestowed with the bureaucrats, who have always bent over backwards to please the political class. This has led to a systematic subversion of institution and organization in this country. The archaic laws still in use, police force remain armed with lathis, police still under direct control of the Political class.Since there was no other political party from 1947 to 1969 on a national scale, it went unchallenged , ever since other parties have evolved and have taken on an all India character, the very same actions of Congress come under scrutiny of the people of this country. Unmindful of this fact, Congress continues to pursue the same path to it own detriment and destruction. The price for this self destruct course adopted by congress, will have to be paid by India and Indians.
QUATROCCHI and THE CBIBy: Rajesh Vyas | Wednesday , 29 Apr '09 14:13:10 PM Reply | Forward Sir: The withdrawal of CBI case against QUATROCCHI and clean chit to him goes on to prove that CBI indeed stands for CONGRESS BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION. It is also apparent that the CBI takes orders from some Extra Constitutional Authority that truly speaking should have no role in executive decisions of this kind. But then we are a strange country with strange polity. It appears we are trying to become ZIMBABWE or some other African/Latin American country.
Wages of arroganceBy: BM | Wednesday , 29 Apr '09 10:12:40 AM Reply | Forward It looks like the editor who penned this article is party worker of the Congress. Entire articles seems like he is writing on behlaf of cong and sympathising for congress and not exhibiting what is the real issue.Remember, it is the same Indian Express along with Arun Shourie who digged various facts regarding Bofors issue. Hope you will continue to be in the same side
Well saidBy: Anil | Wednesday , 29 Apr '09 19:07:45 PM Reply | Forward It sounds like they are pained over this development and giving advice to congress as oppose to usual chastising tone they adopt while writing about BJP. Media in India is under congress thumb. But you will have to give ti to the editor they at least talked about it
