Washington: The World Bank has hired another Indian IT major Tata Consultancy Services to do much of the work previously being done by Satyam, which has now been debarred by the bank from doing business with it. "We have hired Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to do much of the IT work that Satyam used to do  ....Read more

HonestyBy: Baatul | Tuesday , 13 Jan '09 17:48:59 PM Reply | Forward I fully agree with Premji. The real culprits are sitting in World Bank who wants to make a fast cut in any way possible. These multi-lateral agencies like World Bank, IMF and U.N. needs honest officers and not those good-for-nothing aging crooks from US, Europe and China.
Need 2 Hands to ClapBy: Prakash Krishnagiri | Tuesday , 13 Jan '09 19:58:21 PM Reply | Forward It takes 2 hands to clap. Dont blindly be loyal to Wipro. For me Spade is a Spade. Why did Wipro apply for such provisions in the first place? Only to keep their customers happy!!!
Come on....By: Baatul | Tuesday , 13 Jan '09 21:14:21 PM Reply | Forward Why else is Wipro there? To do charity?
wake upBy: Arun | Friday , 16 Jan '09 0:45:29 AM Reply | Forward "Wipro.. had provided Bank staff option to purchase its American Depository Shares at IPO price through a Directed Share Programme" Did wipro offer the same to other people outside the World Bank, at the same time? If they did not, then it IS UNETHICAL.
Premji and Co.need to introspectBy: Anubhav | Tuesday , 13 Jan '09 17:24:20 PM Reply | Forward So, lets recap, you gave a preferential allotment of shares, to a client, at a preferred price...and there was not conflict of interest there? Mt.Premji, that is why Indian corporate governance has a long way to go!
Wipro-World Bank By: akshay | Tuesday , 13 Jan '09 17:04:50 PM Reply | Forward This is how Geelani and jardari/Bhutto and Paki media are also reacting. arent they gone mad when their intrest conflict.
Business Leaders need to introspectBy: SS Rajan | Tuesday , 13 Jan '09 16:55:24 PM Reply | Forward It is easy for Mr. Premji to say this. The problem is most leaders do not see the blind spots - and always think what they have done is right. Mr. Premji needs to introspect - unfortunately most business leaders are too stubborn to see the truth until, it engulfs them, finally.
A big blowBy: Tejasvi | Tuesday , 13 Jan '09 16:20:42 PM Reply | Forward A big blow for Wipro actually
Wipro-World Bank By: Mike Jacob | Tuesday , 13 Jan '09 15:40:31 PM Reply | Forward World Bank could not have set a worst example of arrongent misconductr. It took them almost nine years to find fault with a clearly legal action according to the Indian and US law- that too according to the 'new rules' set by WB 3 years after the incedent. And they are very silent about their own officials involved who produced certificate to the satisfaction of Wipro, stating there was no conflict of interest. How much more arragont they can become!
Wipro's folly!By: R.Balasundaram | Tuesday , 13 Jan '09 13:58:11 PM Reply | Forward Had the disclosure been made promptly by WIPRO management, the image of the co. would not have suffered. As the disclosure is coming after Satyam saga, people will take the disclosure of wipro now with a pinch of salt!
Wipro's follyBy: Avinash Kumar | Tuesday , 13 Jan '09 15:59:11 PM Reply | Forward Yes, you are right.
Foolish man........By: Amit | Tuesday , 13 Jan '09 13:53:42 PM Reply | Forward This is how Geelani and jardari/Bhutto and Paki media are also reacting. arent they gone mad when their intrest conflict.
WiproBy: Shahid | Tuesday , 13 Jan '09 23:34:10 PM Reply | Forward What Geelani and Zardari have anything to do with Wipro saga. Is it because Azim Premji a Muslim and so by association guilty of something he has nothing to do with. We are seeing a concerted propaganda against Islam and Muslim not only being waged but being successful. Your report about dacoits, acting on behalf of right-wing Hindu organizations, were responsible for various bombings for which innocent SIMI members were implicated and arrested by the police. What a joke?
