Dalvi's heroics in vain

MUMBAI, May 12: The Shrushti cricket tournament for under-14 boys organised by Sporting Union Club commenced today. Matches will be played on a 30-overs-a-side basis for the Santosh Kumar Ghosh Memorial Trophy. Sassanian beat Dadar Parsi Colony by 45 runs, Aarey got the better of Parsee Cyclists by 43 while National ran up an emphatic 75-run win over Sporting Union on the opening day's action. A valliant performance by Anand Dalvi merited the man of the match award for Dadar Parsi, playing at Shivaji Park. He followed a fine bowling display that brought him two wickets for 44 runs with a fine 69 performances that failed to stave off defeat. Installed by Brunswick, the bowling alley is a major attraction of the club, which also offers various sports and water-park facilities. Indian Gym win Indian Gymkhana beat Bombay YMCA B 55-11 in a boys' match of the sub-junior Bombay YMCA Open basketball championships at the Mastan Shah Baugh playground, this evening.
