EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, May 22: The Health Ministry, with the help of a Rs 891-crore programme approved by the World Bank, will launch an offensive against malaria. The drive will concentrate on the eight malaria-endemic states of Bihar, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and West Bengal. Health Minister Saleem Shervani said on Wednesday that the focus would be on attacking the breeding grounds of the anopheles mosquito. June will be observed as ``malaria month'' and a special committee will monitor the work on anti-malaria measures. Copyright © 1997 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
