Mumbai-notes -- Accupressure camp
The Bharat Vikas Parishad and Jai Bhagwan Accupressure is conducting a 21-day free accupressure training camp at the Parishad's Malad west branch at Evershine Nagar. Noted homeopathic consultant, Dr Shilpa Bansal who inaugurated the camp on May 18, emphasised the role of the drugless therapy and said that accupressure was also advocated by the World Health Organisation. The training is being imparted by Navneet Shah who has instructed in about 150 such camps throughout the country. The camp is being sponsored by the BSM Foundation, Malad. Membership The Young Christian Workers' Movement (YCWM), existing in over 125 countries of the world has invited memberships from the working youth of Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat. Over the last few years, the movement in India has concerned itself with diverse fields like education, service and representation of young people in trade union movements, migration, unemployment etc. The preoccupation of the movement with young minds have helped them think and act in a manner that will bring about a confrontation with and change in the existing social strife between the haves and the havenots. After spending an afternoon with blind childern from Benaras last year, Singh had committed himself to releasing a cassette for the blind. According to a press release from the National Association for the Blind, Singh called up the NAB office in April saying that he was ready with a set of eight ghazals dedicated to the blind . The funds accrued from the launch of the cassette were donated to the NAB. Eurasian meet The Nagpur-based International Association of Educators for World Peace will organise an International Eurasian Congress at the Karadeniz Technical University in Turkey from August 2-9 on the theme of Enviromnent and Peace. The IAEWP, a non-governmental organisation having branches in 104 countries and 25,000 members has affiliation with the UNDPI, UNCED, UNICEF and UNESCO. Akbarallys Popular department stores chain Akbarallys has relaunched its Chembur outlet after complete renovation. The re-done Akbarallys was inaugurated by deputy chief minister Gopinath Munde recently. According to Akbarallys chairman F T Khorakiwala, the store will be one of the first in the country to introduce the bar code system. The new store now has three levels to enable customers to esaily identify the sections catering to their specific requirements. Honoured Britain's prestigeous Richmond College, the American International University in London honoured the Hinduja brothers in a specially arranged ceremony recently for their extraordinary accomplishments during their development from modest beginnings to a worldwide enterprise. The brothers were awarded with an honorary doctorate of law from the University of Westminister for their outstanding business success and charitable work through the Hinduja Foundation recently.
