Colaba Young Stars pip Bombay Muslims

MUMBAI, MAY 22: Colaba young stars upstaged Bombay Muslims by a solitary goal in the Western India Football Association (WIFA) Senior Division League match at Cooperage today. After a barren first session, Philip D'Costa netted the only goal of the match. Earlier, in a Division I pre-quarter final match, striker Kiran Foka struck once in each half to pilot Versova Village Boys to a 2-1 victory over Dadar XI `B'. Alex Ambrose reduced the margin for Dadar. SPC, CHEMBUR IN FINAL: Defending champions Shivaji Park Centre extended their fine run to set tup a summit clash with Chembur Centre in the Maharaja Fatehsinghrao Gaekwad Sports Foundation sponsored Kalpesh Koli Memorial limited overs (40 overs) cricket tournament. In the semi-finals played at the Matunga ground today, Shivaji Park drubbed Purandare Centre by 68 runs while Chembur recorded a 21-run win over Bandra Centre. Left-hander Dattaprasad Sarang's knock of 94, that came off 110 balls and was studded with 10 boundaries and one six was the highlight of SPC innings. Later, Prashant Nair, who had contributed an useful 28, complimented Sarang's efforts by capturing four wickets for 16 runs in his six overs resulting in Purandare being shot out for 146. It was Dinesh Salunke, who played the lead role in Chembur's victory. After chipping in a quickfire 23, he captured three crucial wickets to restrict Bandra for 208. The final will be played on May 25 (Sunday) at New Hind ground, Matunga.TOP RIDERS FOR AUTOCROSS: The Mitsubishi Autocross for two wheelers will be held at Wilson College Gymkhana grounds, South Mumbai. Leading riders from the city would be competing for top honours in the event which will be held in six categories, informed Shrikant Karani of Sportscraft. The Indian made scooters and motorcycles from 80 cc to 160 cc would be used in various categories, while foreign motorcycles upto 250 cc would be used in one event.
