Maharashtra, Enron haggle over equity terms

The Maharashtra government is negotiating with Enron Development Corporation's Dabhol Power Company (DPC) over the terms for acquiring 30 % equity stake in DPC, decided upon during the protracted negotiations for revival of the 2,184 MW gas-based project.

Nod for port trust, pvt firm JVs soon

In order to facilitate private sector investments, the ministry of surface transport (MoST) has decided to permit major ports to forge joint ventures with such firms to develop ports and related facilities. The fund requirement in the sector is over Rs 40,000 crore in the Ninth Plan period (1997-2002).

No trading in over 2000 company scrips listed on DSE

More than 2000 companies listed on the Delhi Stock Exchange (DSE) have not been traded on the bourse during the last six months.Of these, about 1300 companies have gone untraded since May 1995. This has left thousands of investors stuck with shares worth hundreds of crores.
