INSAT 2D launch in June

BANGALORE, May 27: The fourth satellite of the indigenously built INSAT series, INSAT 2D, will be launched from Kourou in French Guyana on June 4, and not May 29, as scheduled earlier. The satellite will be launched on board the 97th flight of the Ariane launch vehicle, at 4.30 hours IST, a press release from the Indian Space Research Organsiation (ISRO) said here on Tuesday. INSAT 2D is expected to become fully operational a month after its launch, and would cost ISRO around 60 million dollars. Since its arrival in Kourou on April 10, the Rs 120 crore satellite weighing 2070 kg, has undergone various tests to study its capacity.
