MAY 27: Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust has exceeded its target. JNPT handled record traffic of 8 million tonnes this year in spite of a major fire in December 1996.

This was revealed at the valedictory function of JNPT's 8th anniversary celebrations on Monday attended by Minister of Surface Transport T G Venkatraman, JNPT Chairman R Vasudevan, distinguished trade representatives and JNPT employees. Venkatraman congratulated officers, shipping representatives and others who have bagged awards for excellence.
