Central bureau of Investigation director Joginder Singh in Mumbai on Thursday.

MUMBAI, May 29: Joginder Singh, director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was in the city today. The reason for his visit was however, a very well kept secret.

There were speculations as to whether he was in the city to arrest Raj Thakerey or to investigate into the CRB scam Throughout the day, Singh kept reporters on their toes and eluded them. Singh was closeted in a fifth floor suite of the Taj hotel with Daniel Alexander and Harbans Singh, the officers investigating into the Ramesh Kini murder case. Sources say that the other purpose of his visit was to monitor the investigations into CRB scam and raid the residence of CRB chairman C R Bhansali. Bhansali is accused of swindling Rs 57 crore of State Bank of India in collusion with two other bank officials.

The CBI officials however, refused to divulge any details in either case and only said that investigations in the Kini case were almost complete.
