EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

MUMBAI, May 29: Ravi Kant, chairman of Central Board of Direct Taxes today inaugurated an Information and Facilitation counter at the Aayakar Bhavan. The counter has been created to provide assistance to taxpayers to file in their returns.

Information regarding tax rates and deductions available under the Income Tax Act will be available at the counter. It will also deal with information regarding status of grievance petitions and incomes exempted from taxation. The counter is expected to be of great use to the uninitiated taxpayer who has never filed tax returns before. The taxpayers will also be informed of the slab under which he is listed and where he is to file in his returns.
