Kidwai okays Laloo's prosecution
The decks have been cleared for the filing of a charge-sheet by the Central Bureau of Investigation against Bihar Chief Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav in the fodder scam, with Governor A R Kidwai formally sanctioning the prosecution of the former.

Narayanan phones for support, BJP keeps him on hold

Mumbai customs authorities to stop inspection of import cargoes
The Customs authorities have decided to ban the examination of import cargoes except for 26 sensitive items with effect from June 16. The order states that the delivery of goods to importers whose credentials are above board may be permitted without physical examination of the cargo.

Additional grant for states from central tax pool
States will receive an additional Rs 5,000 crore as part of their enhanced share in the central pool of taxes. The recommendations of the Finance Commission to provide 29% share in the revenue collected by the Centre through various kinds of taxes, was agreed upon mutually.

BSE turnover hurtles past Rs 1,100 crore
The BSE-30 sensitive index touched a post-Budget high of 4,087 points before closing at 4,087.64. The index registered a gain of 62 points, marking a record turnover of Rs 1,172.90 crores. Hectic buying by FIIs ensured that the week-long bull run was sustained.

DSE kingpin among 11 parties in custodian net
The custodian appointed by the special court in connection with the 1992 securities scam has notified 11 firms, mostly belonging to prominent Delhi broker Naresh Aggarwala. Aggarwala is said to have maintained strong links with major scam players such as the Harshad Mehta group, Hiten Dalal and others.
