Salgaocar enter Fed Cup semis

HYDERABAD, July 5: Salgaocar Sports Club, Goa scored a hard-fought 5-4
tie-breaker victory over Border Security Force (BSF), Jalandhar to enter
the semifinals of the Kalyani Black Label Federation Cup football tournament
played here today.
The teams were locked 1-1 at the end of full-time and with no change to the
score at the end of extra-time, the penalty shootout was imposed amidst rain
and near darkness.
Salgaocar wasted several chances and conceded the lead against the run of
play after 27 minutes in the first half when Prashanta Das scored.
The Goan outfit equalised in the dying seconds of the half when Bruno
Coutinho found the net with a piledriver from Sanaton Singh's long lob.
Jules Alberto, Bruno Countinho, S Venkatesh and Robert Fernandes scored in
the penalty duel for Salgaocar. Raghubir Singh, Pradip Gorai and Abay Mohato
scored for BSF before Salgaocar goalkeeper Juje Siddique denied Avtar Singh.
