Suburban services on the Western Railway were disrupted for the second consecutive day on Wednesday following breaking of a local's pentograph at Bandra station in the morning.

The train was going toward Borivli when this incident occurred on platform number one at Bandra station. Services were behind schedule in the morning hours, but were soon restored when reports last came in.

Mazgaon bldg catches fire

Household goods and furniture were destroyed in a fire which razed six rooms of the second floor of Dubera building near Navbagh Naka at Mazgaon on Wednesday. According to fire brigade sources, the fire started at around 1:00 am. Four fire engines and three water tankers were rushed to the spot and the fire was controlled within an hour. No casualty or injury was reported.

Bomb hoax at Andheri school

A bomb scare at Bhavan's A H Wadia High School at Andheri on Wednesday proved to be a hoax.

According to the police, the school authorities received an anonymous call at around 10:15 am, wherein the caller claimed a bomb had been planted inside the school premises. The school authorities immediately informed the D N Nagar police station and asked students to leave the school premises leaving their bags as they were.

The police accompanied with the specialised bomb squad rushed to the scene and lost no time in starting search operations. Oil pilferage racket bustedThe Thane district rural police on Wednesday arrested two persons for adulterating and pilfering oil and other solvents. The Thane district rural police claim to have unearthed a major racket. The Thane district rural police is carrying out a systematic campaign to destroy rampant pilferage of oil and chemicals on express highway and illegal joints from tankers and lorries, police sources said.
