ONGC get the better of CR

MUMBAI, July 28: Central Railway (Parel Workshop) put up a good fight but could not sustain their effort and conceded to the perseverance and experience of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in the Harwood League match, played today, at the St. Xavier's ground Parel. For ONGC, who won 2-0, it was their second victory in the Harwood League. The first-half was a story of missed opportunites by both teams. After a goalless first half, Central Railway's defences were breached twice by ONGC.The first of their two goals came in the 71st minute when Brian D'Mello scored off a pass from substitute Shekar Chikale. Coincindentally, it was another ONGC substitute, Sydney Xavier, who scored the second goal, netting three minutes before the final whistle. Earlier, Khalsa Gymkhana `B' beat Jet Airways, 1-0 in a Division III Chhatrapati Shivaji League match. Savio Gonsalves netted the match-winner in the second half. In another Div III match, MLWB (Naigaum) fought back to force a 1-1 draw with Nelson Boys. Carlton D'Mello put Nelson Boys into the lead but Tushar Choudhary equalised the score by scoring for MLWB.
