Mumbai Beat -- Two Chhota Rajan men nabbed

MUMBAI, July 28: Two persons who were arrested by the Gamdevi police on July 19, 1997, in connection with a robbery case turned out to be members of the Chhota Rajan gang, according to investigations by the Gamdevi police. The duo, Rajan Tukaram Jangle (31) and Suresh Ramachandra Pandere (26), were arrested in connection with a robbery case which included cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 13.30 lakh. Investigations by the crime branch revealed the duo were involved in a firing case at Mumbai Central during the same period. The accused said they had murdered a person with a revolver and a chopper and admitted to being members of the Chhota Rajan gang. Prior to this, the duo were arrested by the Borivli police in connection with an assault case. The arrests have been made under Section 3, 25 and 27 of the Arms Act and the police have recovered one .45 bore gun, six chamber Webly Mark VI revolver with two live rounds and a blood-stained chopper. One held in Vinkar Bank case With the arrest of MV Balagiri, proprietor of Komal Enterprise and Ganesh Sales and Services, the number of arrests in the Rs six crore embezzlement case of Virkar Sahakari Bank have gone up to three. Balagiri, who was also arrested on Sunday along with Samajwadi Party corporator Sunil Ganacharya and his father Vijay , was remanded by additional chief metropolitan magistrate S N Chimade to police custody till August 11.
