DECEMBER 23: A father's attempt to save his son from committing suicide ended in the death of both. Bhimrao Ganpat Jadhav and his son Sachin fell from their 11th floor flat at Badhwar Park, Colaba on Sunday night and died on the spot, the police said.

Sachin had recently been arrested and released on bail in connection with an extortion case, and Bhimrao was trying to convince his son to mend his ways.

His wife was employed as a domestic servant with one of the officials. Sachin threatened to commit suicide, which Bhimrao dismissed as a joke. But when Sachin jumped out of the balcony, Bhimrao tried to pull him up, losing his footing.
