Noted litterateur Mafat Oza dies in Vadodara

AHMEDABAD, Dec 29: Gujarati litterateur Mafat Oza died of a heart attack on Saturday night in Vadodara. He was 54. His writing included novels, poetry anthologies, short stories, plays and critiques of classical and contemporary Gujarati literature. He was founding editor of a Gujarati literary magazine,Tadarthya.

He won awards for a novel Ghooghavta Sagarna Maun and for Lila Pila Jwalamukhi, a collection of one-act plays. He also won prizes for Updown and Pal-palna Pratibimbo. Secretary of the Gujarati Sahitya Parishad, he pioneered two literary institutions, the Kavyagoshthi and Akshara.
