Punjab civic poll process begins

CHANDIGARH, Dec 29: The second phase of municipal elections, covering second-rung major towns and some district headquarters, has begun in Punjab with the State Election Commission issuing a notification for holding elections to 42 municipal councils and 4 nagar panchayats on January 12. Nominations for these polls can be filed upto December 30. These will be scrutinised on December 31 while January 1 has been set aside for withdrawal of nominations by non-serious candidates.
