Second Div of National league to be set up

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, Dec 29: Tamil Nadu will host the next edition of the National Football Championships for the Santosh Trophy. While the dates are yet to be decided, the venue was cleared at the All India Football Federation (AIFF) general body meeting here today.

Another significant decision taken at the meeting was the setting up of a National League second division consisting of 18 teams, including Tata Football Academy (TFA). The AIFF plans to get through the second division matches, before the general elections, in Cuttack, Bangalore and Guwahati.

On the long term front, the apex body has appointed five project directors who will monitor the progress of age-group sides, including the women's team.

The senior men's team will be monitored by CR Vishwanthan while chairman of the Philips League Committee, Alberto Colaco, will look after the under-19 international side. Former AIFF secretary PP Lakshmanan will head the panel for the u-21 international side, while Ashok Ghosh and Ranjit Gupta will monitor the programme for women's and u-16, respectively.
