MUMBAI, December 30: The one-day protest walkout by Income Tax promotee officers and employees on Tuesday, though total, had little effect on the declarations under VDIS.The counters remained busy through the day. Assistant Commissioners from the IRS cadre manned the VDIS counters, and queues were seen even as late as 6.30 p m at the Ayakar Bhavan, (IT headquarters).
The chief commissioner of IT, Mumbai, V M Muthuramlingam said collection of VDIS declarations proceeded `smoothly'.
