NAGPUR, Dec 30: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde today ruled out the possibility of fielding former Chief Election Commissioner T N Seshan from Baramati Lok Sabha constituency. He said Pune and Baramati seats had been allotted to BJP and Seshan was not in BJP and hence the question of his candidature did not arise. Munde also categorically denied that BJP was considering to field noted industrialist Rahul Bajaj from Wardha and cine actor Nitish Bhardwaj from Nagpur.
Talking about BJP's nation-wide chances this time, Munde said his party would raise its tally in the south-eastern coastal belt from Orissa to Tamil Nadu from eight in the previous election to 70.
Munde denied any irregularities in the birthday bash of Chief Minister Manohar Joshi in Mumbai recently. The committee headed by himself met yesterday and all the documents related to expenditure would be submitted before the court as per its directive, he asserted.
The first list of BJP candidates for the coming Lok Sabha polls
will be released by January 11 or 12 next after the party's two-day central election management committee meeting from January 10, according to party national general secretary and the committee member, Pramod Mahajan.
Mahajan said the second list, which will be released on January 27, would include candidates chosen on the basis of local equations.
