Chennai, Jan 3: If you have a penchant for the small, useful and `not so useful' things that most shopping buffs covet but do not find them in regular hops,`Conzumer Exhibition' is the place for you to go. It has a whole range of innovative space saving household products which are not too expensive. The moment when one walks in, there is a faint air of disapointment that it is like any other consumer durables exhibition, but that lasts only for a minute. For the difference catches your eye immediately. You can find household cleaning equipment from the Delhi-based Unique Cleaning Aids. The polypropylene broom, the mirror cleaner and much more. Then you have another Delhi-based company, Wirecraft, which specialises in polythelene-coated wire products which have been designed to save space. The exhibition almost seems to have a theme of `save space products' but it is not so, says Syed Zakir Ahmed of ANZ International. ANZ International is the company behind this exhibition. Some other products are the
U-Shelf from Chennai-based Henriken Engineering. These are wall mounted shelving systems, MPC Products also designed to save space in the house can be found.
Just when one feels that one has got a strong desi flavour, one stumbles upon the Kellogs, Philip products and other electronic goods stalls. "The idea is to make available to customers products not easily available in the market," says Ahmed. "This is the sixth such exhibition and a great deal of interest has been displayed for the products. As far as possible, I would like to provide everything that they would look for." The exhibition is being held at the Raja Muthiah Hall at Egmore between December 30, 1997 and January 4, 1998.
