  NBFC may face fund outflow
The RBI's latest move to curb the access of non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) to public funds is likely to throw the financial markets in disarray. The RBI move is expected to see an outflow of thousands of crores of rupees from the Indian financial system as NBFCs strive to comply with the new set of norms.
  IT Dept to tap cell phone subscribers
The grand success of VDIS 1997 will not make tax collectors complacent. The Union finance minister P Chidambaram said that efforts will now be geared towards collecting dues from cellphone and farm house owners. The Central Board of Direct Taxes will launch the collection drive from January 5.

Rajasthan telecom circle cleared
The Union cabinet, in a surprising move, earlier this week cleared the controversial Rajasthan circle for basic telephone services. The decision was taken in the absence of the Union communications minister, thus casting a shadow upon its future as the minister is unlikely to support the Cabinet move.
Motor cover premium to double in 3 years
Motor insurance premium rates for third party claims are poised to shoot up by 100% over the next three years. The General Insurance Corporation which has recommended the increase in premium rates which presently stand at Rs 160.

Badla picks up on BSE
Badla (carry-forward) transactions have started picking up on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The net outstanding value of carry-forward deals in the previous settlement for the first time crossed the Rs 300 crore mark, touching Rs 361.26 crore.
Glut hits Chennai property market
