Waughs frustrate SA

Chauhan out of action again, Sanghvi included
Delhi left-arm spinner Rahul Sanghvi was a surprise inclusion in the Indian team for the tri-nation cricket championship featuring India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Sanghvi comes in for off-spinner Rajesh Chauhan, whose bowling action was questioned again by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Anand goes down fighting in first game
Viswanathan Anand has lost the first game to Anatoly Karpov of Russia in six-game Fide World Chess Championship match at Lausanne on Friday. For a good portion of the match, the Indian GM was fighting with his back to the wall, trying to save the game that seemed lost from the middle game.

ICC has gone too far, says Kapil Dev
Kapil Dev yesterday expressed "surprise" at the axing of off-spinner Rajesh Chauhan and said that the selectors' action was "unfair" to the off-spinner. Kapil said that the selectors should have proof before taking such drastic steps. Kapil also strongly objected to the conduct of the International Cricket Council in the matter.
