  "Doubtful" voters will not be allowed to vote: EC
The Election Commission has announced that all the 3.7 lakh voters in Assam who had been listed as "doubtful" will not be allowed to vote in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. The EC informed Assam's Chief Electoral Officer Bhaskar Musahary of its decision, who has informed the State government.
  Gowda hits out at Mulayam for siding Congress & bid to split JD
Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda has opened up a front against Mulayam Singh Yadav saying that the latter's inclination towards the Congress would be taken up in the core committee meeting of the Front. He also pulled him for trying to break up the Janata Dal in Uttar Pradesh.

RJP to contest 100 LS seats, says Vaghela
Having joined Laloo Prasad Yadav's Jan Morcha, former Gujarat chief minister Shankarsinh Vaghela has announced the party's plans to contest on about 100 parliamentary constituencies through out the country. The president of the Rashtriya Janata Party revealed that apart from Gujarat he would be fielding about 20 candidates from UP, 15 from Maharashtra, four in Bihar and Haryana, two in Delhi, six in Andhra Pradesh and Punjab.
Hegde may go Right after all
With the announcement of a seat sharing arrangement between the Bharatiya Janata Party and Lok Shakti a mere formality now, former Karnataka chief minister Ramakrishna Hegde is in the process of persuading his friends in the state Janata Dal to go along with him. Arriving in Delhi, Hegde accompanied by BJP chief L K Advani held discussions with several JD leaders including Union textiles minister R L Jalappa and MPs P Kodandaramaiah and Basavaraja Rayareddy.

Jan Morcha will remain a non-starter: UF
The United Front has made light of Jan Morcha, the six-party front put together by former Bihar chief minister Laloo Prasad Yadav, saying it would remain a non-starter. Speaking on behalf of the UF, Communist Party of India general secretary A B Bardhan has dismissed the possibility of Laloo's morcha having a significant impact.
Kalmadi splits PMC Cong to challenge Pawar
Former Congressman Suresh Kalmadi has split the Congress in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) walking away with 55 corporators, 41 of them from the Congress, to float his own Pune Vikas Aghadi. With this Kalmadi has literally taken on the challenge thrown by long-time ally Sharad Pawar.
