Sharif for more Indian trains to Pakistan

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA
DHAKA, Jan 15: Pakistan premier Nawaz Sharif today responded positively to Prime Minister I K Gujral offer to double the number of goods trains from India to Pakistan from the present level of ten to 15 trains a month to one every day.

``Mr Gujral suggested one train a day...Why not two or three trains a day from India to Pakistan and vice versa,'' Sharif said, addressing the ``trilateral business summit'' of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh soon after Gujral's speech.

Gujral also offered to increase the frequency of the Samjhauta Express, which presently runs twice a week from India to Pakistan, to six times a week.

Official sources said Sharif called on Gujral at his suite in Hotel Sonergaon where the Indian Prime Minister is staying.

This is the fourth meeting between the two prime ministers in the last nine months.
