Chinese in troubled waters

BEIJING: Close on the heels of two vials of undiluted human growth hormones (HGH) being found in the baggage of Chinese female swimmer Yaun Yuan at the ongoing World Championship at Perth, four more Chinese swimmers tested positive for alleged doping. The Chinese Swimming Association (CSA) said in a statement today that it supported the decision of the sport's world governing body Fina, to suspend these four Chinese swimmers.

Re fall continues

MUMBAI: The rupee continued its downward slide against the dollar and touched a new low of 40.35 before the Reserve Bank of India along with the State Bank of India stepped in to pump in around $ 100 million to arrest the fall of the Indian currency.

MP firing toll

BHOPAL: With one more person succumbing to injuries early on Thursday, the toll in Monday's police firing on farmers at Multai in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh has risen to 17. Seven persons were killed on Monday while nine died the next day.
