Two arrested for threatening constables

The Trilokpuri Police arrested Rajender alias Kachhu (25) and Mahender alias Raju on Saturday for threatening police constables with a knife. The constables were checking buses at Mayur Vihar Phase-II when five persons in the bus objected to the checking. Two of them took out knives. As they tried to flee, Rajender and Mahinder were apprehended, but the others managed to escape. A knife was reportedly recovered from Rajender.

Three arrested for auto-lifting

The Pratap Nagar Police arrested three persons -- Abdul Salam, Mansoor Alam and Mahendar Kumar (aged around 20/22) -- on Saturday for auto-lifting. The trio were driving a stolen Maruti van when they were stopped at a police check post near Kishan Ganj. Abdul Salam, who was driving the van, tried to speed away but the police apprehended the miscreants. A knife and two car stereos have been recovered from them. The Maruti car had reportedly been stolen by them from Nabi Karim area.

Man sustains 100 per cent burns

Kulwant (50), a resident of Lajpat Nagar, reportedly sustained 100 per cent burns and was admitted to the Safdarjung Hospital on Saturday night. Kulwant is a handicapped person and was running a small paint shop at the fish market in Garhi, Lajpat Nagar. Sarif, 30, also reportedly worked with Kulwant in the paint shop. They along with one Shankar, 18, were reportedly consuming liquor while sitting in a Fiat car parked near the shop.

They were injured when a fire broke out in the car. A burning cigarette butt is assumed to be the cause of the fire. Sarif and Shankar received minor injuries and were discharged after first aid. Lajpat Nagar police is conducting an enquiry.

Missing man found dead

A man who was missing since Friday night was found dead with severe stab wounds in Sarai Khaja police station area early on Saturday morning.

According to the police, Satpal, a dairy owner and resident of Tigaon had failed to reach his house on Friday night after finishing his work at the dairy.

While the frantic family members were searching for him, his body was found near Palla village on the Delhi by-pass road.

A case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against unknown assailant.
