Serial on Kashmir

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Jan 25: To the increasing stock of Kashmir sagas on small screen, the city added its own contribution today with the ``muhurat'' of G S Channi's serial held this morning. Titled ``Bandhak,'' the serial is in Hindi and is loosely based on the hostage crisis that gripped the valley two years ago.

Written by Dr.Pushpesh Pant, a professor at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi, the serial will be a launchpad for many talents in the city. In the lead role of Aziz, belonging to a well-off family but involved in militancy, one can see Parkhi of the Department of Indian Theatre. The rest of the cast includes Kamal Arora, J K Raina, Parvez Sethi, Kiran Singh and Jasleen Shant. The muhurat was in the typical filmi style with Balwant Gargi performing the auspicious act of breaking the coconut. According to Channi, the serial will be a true account of what the Valley underwent in recent times, seen through the protagonist's family drama.
