WB Dalit Front announces list of candidates

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CALCUTTA, January 29: The four-party Anagrasar Dalit and Sankhalaghu Front (ADSF), comprising Dalits and minorities, has decided to field 17 candidates for the coming Parliamentary election in West Bengal.

The convener of the front, Shukriti Biswas, announcing the list of 17 Lok Sabha candidates, said the backward communities, which constitute the majority in rural population, are most neglected lot in the present political dispensation.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Biswas blamed the Left Front rule in the state for steady deterioration of socio-economic conditions of the minorities.

Saying that the Left Front had slipped into the hands of "leaders belonging to high castes who ignore the cause of downtrodden", Biswas said: "We can no longer pin our hope on any political party in the state."
