JOHANNESBURG, February 1: Financial viability could decide whether future under-19 World Cup tournaments are held every two years, an International Cricket Council (ICC) official said today after the final won by England here.Dave Richards, Chief Executive of the ICC said the plans to stage regular tournaments could be decided later this year after in-depth discussion on the event. A committee to which he and Dr Ali Bacher, Managing Director of South Africa's United Cricket Board, belong, is to make recommendations to the ICC.
``This particular tournament has been a major success, and upgrading the profile of future tournaments of this nature will also be addressed,'' said Richards.
``We know there was a gulf between strengths of the Test countries and ICC associate member countries, but this needs to be seen in the light of those countries involved,'' he added.
A format would also be looked at to see whether on involving semi-finals and a final was preferable to the one used in South Africa where adouble league format was used, followed by a final.
