February 2: Arun subramaniam won the boys' under-17 title, defeating top seed Asim Anthony Pereira in the fourth round of the Gokuldham Chess Club's Rapid Chess tournament. Subramanium (5.5 points) was followed by Janvion Rodrigues of St Andrew College with five points.In the under-11 category, Yashodhan Gogte (Bombay Scottish) won all the five rounds while top seeded Aditya Vora of Don Bosco was defeated by Sahil Majumdar, who was later announced the runners-up on better progressive score.
In the girls' under-11 category, Vrushali Kulkarni of S K Patil School won the title with an undefeated run. Top seed Priyanka Vora (four points) won the under-17 crown. She defeated fifth seed Natasha S Mokale of Carmel in the third round, pushing Natasha to second spot with three points.
