Munde blames Cong for tribals' plight

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NASHIK, February 2: Gopinath Munde, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, blamed the 45 years Congress rule in the country and the stint of the United Front Government at the Centre for the pathetic state of tribals in the country.

Addressing an election meeting of BJP's nominee Ramdas Gavit from Dhule Lok Sabha constituency at Kanashi yesterday, Munde pointed out that the UF Government had behaved in a step-motherly fashion to the BJP-Sena Government.

He said that due to the apathetic attitude of the Centre the tribals in the state could not avail of benefits which his Government intended to administer to alleviate their condition. He harangued Congress apathy against the state's welfare schemes for tribals, pointing out that the BJP-Sena Government in Maharashtra had formulated special schemes like the Navsanjivan Yojana for tribal welfare. He added that the newly formed Tapi Valley Development Corporation would develop tribal regions in North Maharashtra.

He promised the BJP would pay specialattention to pressing tribal needs like roads, health facilities, power and employment.
