Pete Sampras was meant to stroll to victory, but in the end it was the Cup of `Pistol Petr' from Prague, who sealed his first Grand Slam win after 12 years as a professional.

India to participate in bridge festival
India along with eight teams- Syria, Egypt, Kuwait, Pakistan, Lebanon, Bahrain, Oman and host UAE - will take part in the 6th Annual Bridge Festival starting in Sharjah from today. India's challenge is spearheaded by Rego/Visu's team comprising AS Vishwanathan, Shyamsunder, SK Iyengar, R Krishnan and Derek Rego. Of these Krishnan, Iyengar and Vishwanathan have ample international exposure.

Plans to upgrade Youth World Cup
Financial viability could decide whether future under-19 World Cup tournaments are held every two years, an International Cricket Council (ICC) official said after the finals won by England at Johannesburg. Dave Richards, Chief Executive of the ICC said the plans to stage regular tournaments could be decided later this year after in-depth discussion on the event. A committee to which he and Dr Ali Bacher, Managing Director of South Africa's United Cricket Board, belong, is to make recommendations to the ICC.
