No deputy PM in BJP govt, says Advani

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
NEW DELHI, Feb 9: BJP president L K Advani today said that a BJP government does not need a deputy prime minister and described his becoming the one under Atal Behari Vajpayee as ``hypothetical''. Replying to a question at a press conference about his reported remarks in a TV interview, he said he had told the questioner that the question was hypothetical and that he would accept any responsibility under Vajpayee who was his senior throughout his political career.

``What is my role after the elections will be decided in consultation with my party colleagues. I would have no problem in being junior to Vajpayee,'' he said. ``I don't think a good and viable government needs a deputy prime minister,'' he said.He also accused the Congress of perpetuating ``dynastic rule'' in the country.
